Our purpose

Team Cardiac life’s dedicated and expert caregivers have saved many (though hardly all) who are gravely ill and need surgical intervention. Without sufficient medical staffing, without preventative education and medication, without the appropriate health care facilities, the struggle is ongoing.

MEET THE TEAM

A team with heart

The activities of our non-profit organization – CardiacLife Foundation (CLF) – have been featured on channel HTV9 of Vietnam national television. Through this initiative, the fundraising activities and the procedure to help children with congenital heart diseases can be elaborated and understood more clearly. Recently, at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy HCMC (UMP), two non-profit organizations, namely Memo (MEMO) and CardiacLife Foundation (CLF), have donated more than 1.300.000 VND to the Heartbeat Vietnam program (HBVN) of the VinaCapital Foundation, thereby helping 30 children with difficult circumstances receive heart surgery in time. This money was raised from an event called Open Our Hearts, held in May last year in California, USA, by Vietnamese-American international students, students and Vietnamese doctors living and studying here.

This meeting was an opportunity for these Vietnamese students in the U.S. to return to their homeland, reconnect with their roots, meet children with congenital heart defects and their families to understand more about their situation and realize how severe and urgent this dangerous disease is if the children are not promptly operated on. The children shared their journey, motivation, and difficulties during the fundraising process. The CardiacLife Foundation and MEMO shared their future plans with the Heartbeat Vietnam program, with the goal of all children in Vietnam having happy lives and healthy hearts. On this occasion, a member of CardiacLife Foundation, Vlogger Jenny Huynh also shared her desire to spread positive messages in the community to help Heartbeat Vietnam save more children with congenital heart defects.

Representatives of the CardiacLife Foundation, Mr.  Nguyen Hai Dang and Ms. Jenny Huynh, had a visit to Can Tho province to meet a poor little girl named Pham Huynh Thao Vy, who have been suffering from a congenital heart disease and. She and her mother – Huynh Thi Suong – live in Long Tuyen Ward, Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City, have shared about their financial difficulties to pay for the treatment and surgery costs. She also suffers from a nervous breakdown due to worrying about her baby’s illness and other illnesses that affect the family’s work and livelihood.

Finally, it comes to the talk with the Vice President of the Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients in Can Tho City – Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Anh and the director of Vietnam Heartbeat and Essential Health programs – Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue. They have  shared about the process of finding support and appreciate the relentless efforts and enthusiasms of the two non-profit organizations, Memo (MEMO) and CardiacLife Foundation (CLF). In addition, Associate Professor, PhD, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Dinh also shared more about Vy’s surgery that this heart surgery is a more challenging and complicated operation, after removing the old graft and replacing it with a new one, the valve will begin to degenerate about 10 – 15 years.
